Gippsland Heritage Conservation (GHC), focusses on the importance of the conservation, preservation and care of cultural material.
Cultural material encompasses significant artworks in gallery collections to a community family member’s album of photographs.
Care of cultural material may involve a level of interventive treatment to prevent further deterioration or guidance on storage, handling,
packing and display to prolong the life of a material. GHC is owned and operated by trained conservator Sherryn Vardy. Sherryn had over 20 years experience in the gallery and museum industry before establishing GHC in 2019.

During her time working in regional and private galleries Sherryn developed a well-rounded understanding of gallery practices and procedures and a passion to pursue a career in conservation. As Exhibition Manager at National Exhibitions Touring Support (NETS) Victoria Sherryn expanded her knowledge of the industry by project managing national touring exhibitions and travelling around Australia providing installation support to museums and galleries. At Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) Sherryn held roles as Exhibition Project Coordinator and Assistant Registrar for touring projects. There Sherryn project managed and was a courier for major international touring exhibitions where she travelled to international venues and coordinated the installation of exhibitions with the ACMI team and host venue staff.

As Conservator at GHC Sherryn has worked with Benalla Art Gallery, Latrobe Regional Gallery, Wangaratta Art Gallery, ACMI and for private clients in Gippsland and Melbourne. Sherryn also has a wide network of industry contacts including additional conservators, professional art installers, fine art logistics specialists, archival material suppliers and research colleagues to collaborate and liaise with on projects.
